The first charges of the Mueller investigation have begun with Paul Manafort giving himself up to federal authorities early Monday morning, after a person close to the investigation said the first charges were being filed, the New York Times reports. It yes to be disclosed what these charges are.
Manafort took over as Trump’s presidential campaign manager after terminating Corey Lewandowski from the position. Manafort resigned two days after the addition of Breitbart executive, Steve Bannon, to the campaign.
His resignation raised questions over his role and extensive track record of lobbying overseas overseas. This was especially concerning when it was discovered he represented pro-Russian interests in Ukraine.
Rick Gates, a long time partner of Manafort, is also expected to be processed by the feds as well, according to law enforcement officials. He has yet to turn himself in.
Mueller is expected later today to officially announce all those to be indicted in his probe

CNN reports that former Trump campaign official Rick Gates has turned himself in to federal authorities. A law enforcement source tells CNN that a second person is being processed
He will join Manafort in a district court in Washington later today. It has still yet to be known what the charges are.

Update 11:07 am EST: Third Trump Official Turns Himself In
George Papadopoulos, former foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign pleaded guilty for making false statements to the FBI. This plead deals directly with the Mueller investigation.
Papadopoulos had suggested that Donald Trump meet with top Russian leaders during the campaign. He pleaded guilty to making false statements during an interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
